Little Life Update

Hey guys! ♥

Sorry I’ve been absolutely M.I.A. lately! My fourth semester of college really caught me off guard and I’ve been crazy busy with school, my new job, and trying to get some sleep every once in a while. I haven’t had very much time to do my crazy eye makeup and get some posts up! I’ve been feeling really defeated because of my lack of time and energy to work on posting regularly, but I’m really trying to figure out some times to post a little bit.

I wanted to update you all on my life really quickly in between studying for the insane amount of tests I have in the next couple of weeks. Life has been hectic, but I’m hanging in there and still LOVE makeup as much as I did when I was posting on a more regular basis. I’ve done a few fun looks for different events that I haven’t written about yet, so I wanted to share some of those here!

#1. Sorority Formal

Of course, the only selfie I took the entire night is one that I used on my Instagram story. Go figure! I really loved this look, though, and can’t believe how great it turned out! I used a few different palettes, including my usual Morphe 25C as well as the new James Charles Artistry palette. Spoiler alert: I’m obsessed with James’ new palette! I also did a half cut crease because, honestly, what’s new?? I toned my hair with the new purple shampoo I’ve been obsessing over too, so if you guys want to see a review on my hair care nowadays I can definitely do that!

#2. EDM Concert

So these are definitely not the highest quality pictures I’ve ever taken, but I knew I’d want to post them here so I made sure to have a couple! I did my own makeup for this concert, but I also did my friend’s makeup (who’s in the first picture with me). We both wanted to go for an icy blue look and I think both looks turned out amazing! I used the James Charles palette once again, as well as the Morphe 35V palette. I can’t stop using blue eyeshadows right now and this was the perfect occasion to be creative with my eyeshadow!

#3. Random Eye Look

Okay, so there was one night that I didn’t have too much to do and I decided to play around with (you guessed it!) the James Charles palette. Obviously this one has become a staple in my makeup collection, and I’m pretty sure I use it every time I put any amount of color on my eyelids. I used my NYX Vivid Brights purple liquid eyeliner with a little bit of ColourPop “From the Valley” liquid eyeshadow on top to get a glittery wing. Then for inner corner highlight I had to use the ABH Moon Child Glowkit, and I used the shade “Blue Moon.” I’ve wanted to write about this look SO BAD but couldn’t find the time to write out an entire post, but if you want a more detailed description on this look, please let me know! I think it turned out so cool and so pretty!

#4. Travis Scott Concert

I may or may not have wanted to include these pictures in this post just to rave about Travis Scott…that’s okay though, right?! It’s a little hard to see the colors I used on my eyes because I didn’t take these specifically for blogging purposes, but I used my Morphe 25C palette and used different shades of pink. It’s also a half cut crease, which is my new go-to look nowadays. I think my makeup turned out super fun and girly for this concert and I loved this look! I tend to use bold colors way more than neutrals, but I think pink is my new “neutral” color for eyeshadows. Incase you were wondering, by the way, Travis Scott was amazing!

I hope you’re not too annoyed with me for being a flaky blogger lately, but I promise that once my schedule calms down I’ll get some more looks posted! Thank you all for hanging in there with me! And I hope you enjoyed looking at some of the looks that I’ve done in the last couple of months! If there’s a specific look that you want me to post about more in-depth, don’t hesitate to contact me and let me know. Also, if you’d like to see different kinds of posts about hair care or skin care, I’ve been working on getting steady routines down and would love to share what I like so far. Once again, thank you for continuing to follow and support me! xoxo

Why Do I Love Makeup?

The question often gets brought up of why I love doing my makeup so much. A lot of people think that makeup is used to cover up, which it can be. People also think that makeup is a way of impressing people, which can also be true. I don’t do my makeup for those reasons though. I started really thinking about why I enjoy putting on my concealer, highlighting my cheekbones, and putting crazy colors on my eyes, and came up with a few reasons to explain why I do this. So here are some reasons why I’m absolutely in love with my makeup.

  1. Makeup is my therapy. Let me tell you, being a college student is not easy. Between constantly studying, writing papers, and trying to maintain good grades there is a lot of stress that builds up. That’s not all I worry about though. There’s constantly something that I need to be doing on campus, whether it be within my sorority, a club, or just maintaining a social life. There is always some kind of drama or craziness happening on top of that, so there’s even more to stress myself out about. I’ve never been the type of person to handle extreme stress well. I’ve learned that if I have a little bit of extra time, it’s incredibly beneficial for me to sit down, turn on some music, and do my makeup. I do this as much as I can, but there’s not enough time in my day to throw on some eyeshadow every time I get overwhelmed. Even planning out looks that I want to try and watching tutorials seems to get me to relax and chill out for a little while.
  2. Makeup gives me a huge boost of confidence. I’m not saying that I’m not confident without makeup on at all! Most days I don’t even wear makeup because all I do is sit in class for the majority of my time. When I do wear makeup, though, I feel really confident about how I look. I put a lot of time and effort into my makeup and I love being able to show that to everyone around me. It’s so much fun when I do my eyeshadow or wear a bold lip and people notice. I get so happy when people compliment me on my makeup, and it really does boost my confidence a lot! Or maybe my ego, but we won’t talk about that…
  3. Makeup is my way of being creative. Growing up, I always wished I was better at drawing, painting, or some other form of art. I tried so hard to be even remotely creative, but that was just not me. When I started playing around with makeup I learned that I was actually good at it! I watched a lot of tutorials when I was younger and started trying out different eyeshadow techniques. Fast forward to the present and I think I might have a clue what I’m doing! Makeup is my way of being artsy and creative, which you can probably tell by the crazy-colored looks I’m addicted to putting on my eyes.
  4. Makeup just plain makes me happy. The happiness I feel when I get a package from Ulta in the mail is indescribable. I get so excited to try out all my new products and create different looks with them. Makeup is just one of those things that brings me so much joy, and I wish I could tell you how much I enjoy using my palettes and my glitters and my lipsticks. Every time I have an event to go to, the first question that comes to mind is how will I do my makeup this time? I am beyond obsessed with trying different products and coming up with new techniques.

As you can tell (and probably already know by now) I have a huge passion for makeup. I believe that it’s an outlet for people who need a boost of confidence, who want to showcase their creativity, and who love to try new things. I’m so happy I found a passion like this, and I’m so happy to be able to share it with the world!

Small Update: Beauty Instagram and Special Event Makeup

Hi everyone! It has been a wild week in college, between gameday last weekend and tons of huge assignments due this week! Unfortunately, I don’t have any tutorials or looks to post today, but I do just want to update everyone really quick.

So first thing: I want to start a makeup Instagram. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I think it would be so fun to post mini-tutorials and looks I’ve done. It would be so much easier to post a little more often using Instagram, so I’m excited to get that started! I definitely want to do some different looks on different people, so if you’re interested at all, please let me know!

My second little thought is that I want to start doing makeup on people for special events. This could include formals, gamedays, or really anything that requires some fun eye makeup! I want to expand my makeup horizons and get to work with some different people to create cool looks. I’ll probably make a little lookbook so people can choose what type of look they want, and then I can get better at specific techniques. I would probably charge $5 for an eye look, maybe including a lip color, and it would be really fun! Once again, let me know what you think and if you would want me to do your makeup for a special occasion.

Those are just a couple of ideas that I have and that I wanted to throw out there for anyone who’s interested! I have a contact page, so if you want to contact me about anything I’ve mentioned here, feel free to reach out to me! And make sure to share this post so I can get a little more input on my ideas! Thank you so much for keeping up with my beauty blog, and I promise to have some really fun looks coming very soon!
