Bronze Smokey Eye with a Pop of Yellow

Like most people, I’m a sucker for a bronze smokey eye! These shades just look amazing on every skin tone and they’re typically the easiest colors to blend out. Recently, I’ve been trying to create some more neutral looks rather than exclusively super colorful ones. Even though I try to use only neutrals, though, I can’t stop myself from throwing on a little pop of color like this yellow inner corner!

To get this look started, I reached for the Mar palette by ColourPop. I did an eyeshadow look and full review on this palette, so make sure you check it out! The colors in this palette are drop-dead gorgeous and so easy to blend! It was a struggle for me to stray away from the vibrant blues in the palette, but I decided it was time to try out some brown shades for once.

For my first shade, I used the light brown from the palette, called “Sorbet.” There are only three mattes, including a vibrant cobalt blue and two brown shades, so I had to do a lot of packing on the color and blending it out. I knew I couldn’t blend very many colors together on my crease, so I did a ton of blending. Once the first transition shade was down the way I liked, I started to pack on the darker brown, “Top Down,” then blend it up into my crease. I also packed it onto my outer corner like I normally would so that my look was a little more intense. Then I mixed these two colors together and ran them along the edges, right below where I placed the original transition color and around the outer corner. Mixing colors allows you to get a lot of versatility in your look even if you’re only using two shades!

I have a surprise for you…I actually didn’t cut my crease for this look! I know, this is not normal for me at all! I wanted this to be a more soft transition between the mattes and the shimmers, so I just packed these shades right onto my eye. I used a mixture between “Wild One” and “My Way,” which are two bronze shimmer shades. I don’t know why I didn’t expect them to be this vibrant, but they are SO pigmented! Seriously, this palette is totally worth it, and the price point is insanely reasonable!

Now for the best part: the inner corner highlight. I love using color on my inner corner when I have a completely neutral eye look, and there’s just something about this yellow that I love so much! I used “Nubia” from The Magic Mini palette by Juvia’s Place to get the bright color you see here. As I’ve said in previous posts, Juvia’s Place shadows are no joke! They have so much pigment and are so easy to blend! I’ve been obsessed with their eyeshadow palettes lately and just can’t seem to stop buying them.

I finished the look by putting a copper eyeliner in my waterline, and I used the NYX Metallic Eyeliner in “Copper” to do this. I threw on some mascara, and the look was all complete!

This look is so wearable and so easy to accomplish! With enough blending and patience, you can get this look too! Even though I love using crazy colors on my eyes, it’s fun to create a neutral smokey eye every once in a while. I’m obsessed with this eye look and I hope you love it too!
