80s Prom-Themed Eye Makeup on my Sister

Doing my sister’s makeup for her 80s prom-themed performance was the most fun I’ve had with makeup in a while! I absolutely love doing her makeup, especially for theater performances, and she’s always in the mood to rock a crazy eye look! I took inspiration for the shape and colors of the eyeshadow from pictures of women in the 80s and I think this turned out so perfect!

I started by priming her eyelids with concealer and setting them with a translucent powder like I normally would when doing any kind of eye look with bold colors. I took the matte turquoise from the Zulu palette by Juvia’s Place and used that as the transition since I wanted to achieve the most vibrant blue look possible. I made sure to wing this shadow out on the outer corners, using the edges of her eyes and the tails of her eyebrows as my guide. I also wanted to deepen the outside and make it a little more dramatic, so I used the matte dark blue from the Mar palette by ColourPop. I went back in with both colors to blend and achieve the intensity I was aiming for. Then I used the shimmery blue from the Zulu palette all over her lid, since I knew she wanted some sparkle! I also put the rose gold from the same palette onto her inner corner then topped it off with the peach shade from the Mar palette. With that little bit of extra shimmer and color to brighten up her eyes, the look was complete!

I posted about this look on my Instagram and I posted a couple of videos showing how I applied the different colors. Make sure you check out my Instagram page and look at the other looks I’ve created using these two palettes! Using the Zulu palette, I gave my sister a purple smokey eye and then I created a rainbow look incorporating some of the colors. I also wrote an entire in-depth review on the Mar palette, so if you want to know more about my thoughts on that one make sure to read it!

  1. This design is steller! You obviously know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

  2. Howdy this is kind of of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    1. Hi! I actually don’t use any coding currently on my blog, but I’m taking some classes that teach me about coding so I might try to start using it! You definitely don’t have to have any coding background to use WordPress though!!
